Philip was born on 12 March 1749.3,4,5,6 He married Barbara Fishburn circa 1775.3,7 Philip died on 2 December 1822 at age 73.3,4,5,6 His body was interred in December 1822 at Swatara Twp., Dauphin Co., PA, at Greiner farm Cemetery.4,6
Philip was listed as a member of Captain Gingery's Company of the 9th Battalion of the Lancaster County Militia in 1778, along with his father8. In the same year he was assessed for one bushel of wheat and one bushel of forage to supply the army9. He was enrolled in Captain Cochran's (6th) Company of the 10th Battalion of the Lancaster County Militia in 1781 and 1782. Although the company was mustered for a tour of duty to Bucks County in June 1781, it appears that Philip furnished a substitute for his service10.

Martin was listed as a member of Captain Gingery's Company of the 9th Battalion of the Lancaster County Militia in 1778, along with his father and brother6. In 1781 through 1784 there are two Martins listed in different battalions. I believe this Martin probably served Captain Robinson's (3rd) Company of the 7th Battalion in 1781 and 17827, and with the 8th Company in the 4th Battalion during 1783 and 17848,9.
