William F. Schnee was a farmer.¹ He was born circa 1815 at PA; census.¹

Robert Woodside records this persons name as Joseph. The 1850 census of Brookville township, Ogle County, Illinois lists his name as James F. The 1860 census of Brookville township and the 1870 census of Lima township, Carroll County, Illinois include a William Schnee (with Margaret). There are several possibilities here. His name may have been written incorrectly in one or more censuses. Or Margaret may have married several brothers. And there is also the possibility that these are totally different families, each with a wife named Margaret. More research would be needed to verify the correct relationships.¹
