Of eleven children born to David and Lizzie, only four survived to adulthood. Lizzie apparently died as a result of childbirth with her last child.
David and Lizzie began a family Bible after their marriage. The Bible is now in the posession of Hiram B. Greiner. It contains the birthdates and places for all David's children. By the birthplaces of their children, we can see that David and Lizzie must have lived at several places in East Donegal, West Donegal, and Conoy Townships before settling in Mount Joy Township. See a copy of the Bible in the appendices.
David was one of the first persons in the county to buy a Ford Model T car, according to his grandchildren. Ralph and Clarence Greiner remember that their grandfather was a superintendent for schools in Mount Joy Township. As children, they remember him visiting the one room school they attended. He came to evaluate the teacher and how well the children were learning.
When David's second wife, Clara, began going blind, he sold his farm in Mount Joy Township. He bought a small farm on Ridge Road outside Elizabethtown where he and Clara lived with his son Clarence until they died.
From the children of his two wives, David Greiner had thirty grandchildren. Of these cousins, sixteen are still living.
