Anecdote* | | John Zaiser and his wife appeared to have been in Stark County by the early 1830s. His wife Elizabeth Schuler was probably a sister of Adam Schuler, who lived near the Zaisers in Limaville for their entire adult life. The Schulers were from Herschberg. Since John was born in Württemberg which is not in the Herschberg, it raises the question of how he joined this group in Limaville. Perhaps he traveled on the same ship as the Schulers and heard about their planned destination in Ohio. Regardless, he became a leading citizen and landowner in Lexington Township and an elder of the German Church. The marriage record of John's parents and the baptism records of most, if not all of his siblings are available from German church records in Köngen. It is not clear whether any of the siblings also immigrated. However, the Michael Zaiser who appeared in Limaville by 1860 was most likely born in Köngen and was the son of John's elder brother Christian Zaiser.
Most of the Zaiser children remained in Limaville and Stark County. Several of them married children of other immigrants from Herschberg. |
