Martin Peter Greiner
Since this book is focused on the ancestors of David Franklin Greiner, I have only detailed the offspring of earlier ancestors to at most two successive generations. There are obviously innumerable descendants of these earlier ancestors. Many have remained in the northwestern Lancaster County area.
In an effort to document some of the other descendants of Martin Greiner, I have created a chart of descendants of two early ancestors - Adam and Martin Peter Greiner. Adam was a son of Martin the immigrant. Many of his descendants remained in the Penn Township area near the original land grant in Penryn. Others moved to East Donegal Township. Martin Peter was a son of Valentine the elder and grandson of Martin the immigrant. He inherited the farm on Cider Press Road in Rapho Township. His numerous offspring continue to populate Rapho and Mount Joy Townships today.
The information in this section, for the most part, has not been researched extensively nor documented well. I received much of it from other family researchers, but I have not attempted to verify the information. Some of it emerged as I was researching the main subjects of the book. Much is the result of research in the cemeteries of Lancaster County and in the U. S. Federal census. However, I have not applied the same rigorous study to these family lines as I have for the remainder of the book. It is most certainly not complete and is very likely missing many people.
I offer these charts as a basis for future research. They can also help Greiner descendants determine how they fit into the family. I would encourage readers to contribute additional family lines that I have not yet discovered. Many of these merit further research.

Let me add one quick note about how to read these charts. The number to the left of each name represents their generation, beginning with Martin Greiner, the immigrant, as generation 1. Thus Adam is generation 2, all of his children would be generation 3, his grandchildren generation 4, and so on. Martin Peter is from generation 3. All the descendants of one child are enumerated before those of the next child of the same family. For example, the descendants of (4) John Greiner, son of (3) Martin Peter Greiner, are listed before proceeding to (4) Anthony Greiner, the next child of Martin. To find the ancestors of a particular person, read up the chart to the first person of an earlier generation. That will be the person's parent. The next lower generation number reading upwards will be the person's grandparent. (Note that people listed in this section are not included in the name index.)
