Anecdote*As reported in the Jeffersonian Republican on 5 Jun, 1879, "Mr. John Kays of Smithfield Township was instantly killed on the farm of his father-in-law, G. Hardenstine, on the 30th of May by the chimney falling on him. He was aged 45 years and leaves a family of 7 children." I could only find evidence of six children.
