     Several older sources suggest William was born in 1761 and Valentine in 1763. However, Valentine's tombstone indicates his birth to be the 1761 date. I have found no further information about William.

     John was born at Lancaster Co., PA, on 18 February 1766.1,2 He married Anna Maria Fishburn in 1787.1,2,3 John died in September 1832 at age 66.1,2 His body was interred in September 1832 at Verona, Augusta Co., VA, at Greiner-Fishburn Cemetery.2
     In 1784 and 1785, a John Greiner is included in the muster roll of Captain Huber's (6th) Company of the 6th Battalion of the Lancaster County Militia4. I have not seen any other author who has indicated John was enlisted in the militia. In 1784 he would have been 18, old enough to enlist. None of his other cousins by the name of John would have been of age to enlist. Therefore, I must assume it was John who was mustered along with his brother Valentine. There is nothing to indicate that he saw any service, however.
